Final night in Hawaii

We spent our final full day here taking a walk to and sitting on the beach for a couple of hours. The temperature has been hot, it's humid and we were careful knowing that a little time in the sun down here is enough to get burnt.

The view from the beach is wonderful with Diamond Head standing out.

We have taken 4 tours since we arrived last Tuesday, I think there must be a bus driver training somewhere here, not on how to drive the bus, but how to entertain the riders.  Other than Mo who we talked about previously, all of our other drivers start with the same things.  First off they teach you local words, for example "How do you say hello / goodbye in Hawaiian?  ALLLOOOOHHHAAA! Can everyone say Aloha, the riders say the word, which is never loud enough for the driver the first time, so we have to do it again louder.  This goes on for a while with other words.  Then we celebrate, birthdays, anniversaries etc.

We always hear the story of how the ladies should wear the flower in your hair.  Left side of the head means you are taken, married or otherwise.  Wearing the flower on the right side means you are single and ready to mingle.  Wearing two flowers on each side means you are confused, taken and looking for an upgrade.

We have heard this same story over and over no matter what bus or bus company we are on, so now you know and are ready to visit this place.

The dinner cruise last night was good, food was great, drinks were a little light and we did have some more entertainment with hula dancing, Tahitian dancing etc. Not like the other great shows we have seen here, but it was a nice evening and a great way for us to finish up our time here.

Today is Sunday October 15.  It was different waking up at 7 am, turning the TV on to see that the NFL Football games were just beginning.

We will pack our bags after doing some laundry this morning, and board our next home away from home on the Ovation of the Seas heading to Australia.  You can check on YouTube to get an idea what this ship looks like, it will be the largest ship that we have ever been on.  We will live on board for 18 days and our feet won't touch dry land again until October 21st when we visit the French Polynesian islands of Raiatea, Moorea and Tahiti.

On board we are disconnecting from the world and the internet, it's far too expensive to have to buy a package on board for an hour to update this blog. We will quickly touch base in French Polynesia to make sure family knows we are doing well. Once we leave these islands it will be another 6 days at sea to get to New Zealand for a couple of stops then finally two more days to arrive in Sydney Australia on November 2nd.

The the fun begins again with our many Australian friends that we are looking forward to catching up with.
